Bullitt
(1968)
Director: Peter Yates
Starring: Steve McQueen, Jacqueline Bisset
our comment. "...reknowned for it's now legendary car chase..."
Steve McQueen plays San Francisco police detective Frank Bullitt, trying to find the man who killed a chicago hood, a protected witness who was to appear before a senate sub-committee crime-hearing. Struggling with the authorities and the conflict between his profession and his girlfriend, (whose worried about how much his job strips away his humanity), Frank Bullitt is determined to uphold the law and catch his man.

Bullitt is reknowned for it's now legendary car chase between Frank Bullitt's 390 GT Mustang ford and the two hitmen in their black, Dodge Charger 440 magnum barreling through the city streets and highways of San Francisco.

Stylish and imaginative, almost European in it's build up, makes this film the greatest cop thriller ever made. Lalo Schifrin's unbelievingly cool and jazzy soundtrack is also remarkable.

Story: 8/10 - you betcha!

Acting: 9/10 - McQueen is excellent as the moody Frank Bullitt.

Violence: 2/10 - This is no Sam Peckinpah film, that's for sure.

Nudity: 1/10 - Seeing the lovely Jaqueline Biset naked would probably be too much.

Coolness: 10/10 - Look up the word

Skid-marks: 10/10 - YES! McQueen works his auto-race magic, showing off some tire burning spins and a total off 6 lost hubcaps in one scene.
