our comment. "The boyband version of Spinal tap"
Every so often an idea comes along that's so funny that it must have been born under the influence of some weird substance, and this is definitely one of those rare moments. Filmed as a documentary, this movie follows the Norwegian band Boyzvoice in their search for boyband stardom.

We get to see their ups and downs, and how they relate to their music and their many devoted fans. Through their manager Timothy Dale and their record label Universal we get an exclusive insight in the record industry's cynical use of these extremely gifted youngsters.

This is the brainchild of comedy writers Espen Ecbo and Henrik Elvestad, and I have to say it works quite well. Especially Henrik Elvestad is enjoyable as the dim but determined manager. The Norwegian music industry is not the world's biggest, but this just adds to the movie's quirkiness and sillyness. This is also a movie that grows on you, so go see it again.

So, if you're gonna take the piss out of something, be sure not to hold back. The Norwegian Spinal Tap is surprisingly funny and refreshing.

Acting: 10/10 - It's a documentary, people

Violence: 3/10 - well, boybands in general have definitely beaten my brain to a pulp

Nudity: 0/10 - Boyband groupies are usually minors, so guess not.

Coolness: 9/10 - very hip in a not hip kind of way

F/X: 0/10 - This movie cost 350.000 kroner, it's the mother of all alternative films except maybe for maybe for "Kaare und Knut the movie" that is.
