Prepare youself for soul cinema at it's finest, because this is the mother of all blaxploitation flicks and proud to say one of my personal favourites (fuck Shaft!)
It's the tale of Tommy Gibbs, small time hustlah working his way up the Harlem Mafia ladder. He's cleaning up the neighbourhood and sticking it to the man. Doing such a great job at it, that he forgets that he's screwing his brothers and sisters on his trail to money and power. Filled with enough cliched melodrama to keep you happy, the film slowly builds up to it's climax. It ends with a 20 minute Italian Mafia genocide as The Hammer takes on, well basically anyone.
ENJOY!
Investigation finished: 2000-11-29
Story: 7/10 - This IS "Scarface", eh...
Acting: 4/10 - This isn't "Scarface", stupid.
Violence: 8/10 - The Coroner can forget about his trip to the Bahamas
Nudity: 5/10 - It feels like porn, it looks like porn but unfortunately it's not.
Coolness: 10/10 - Fred "the Hammer" Willamson is almost as cool as James Brown's ultra slick soundtrack. Unforgettable.
Skid-marks: 3/10 - sad to say not much
