Cannibal Ferox
aka Make them die slowly (1981)
Director: Umberto Lenzi
Starring: John Morghen, Lorainne de Selle, Brian Redford
our comment. "Well, whaddayknow! This seems to upset a bunch of natives..."
Two drug dealers Mike and Joe, who have just ripped of the mob, flea to South America to hunt for emeralds and cocaine. Mike uses too much of the latter substance, becomes toxically insane and tortures a native guide to death in front of his tribe.

These two losers run into Rudy, Pat and Gloria. Gloria's doing a thesis on how cannibalism doesn't exist ( how convenient!). Before long, Joe dies from fever. Mike and Pat get stoned on cocaine, fuck, and Mike pointlessly kills a native girl.

Well, whaddayknow! This seems to upset a bunch of natives (I wonder why), who proceed to hunt down and capture our unlucky foursome. At this point in the film I was so annoyed by the characters that I actually wanted them to die slowly, and die slowly they do, except for Gloria who escapes with the help of a sympathetic native. Phew! Close call, Gloria.

Back in New York city Gloria publish her thesis, but she excludes the hideous events she's witnessed, and tells everyone (meaning a roomfull of dimwits) that cannibalism does NOT exist???????

Is there a point to all this, you ask. Not really, just a stage for one cunning litte Italian to cash in on the whole Video nasties boom in the early eighties. Promoted as "the most violent film ever made" and "Banned in 31 countries" it's no wonder people where intrigued. Don't show this one on a first date, unless you want to scare your investment off. Enjoy!

Your e-mail:
Story: 1/10 - I can imagine John Morghen reading the script and going "yeah! Sure this could really work out well, I wanna be a part of this"

Acting: 0/10 - Most of the people in the cast couldn't even pronounce the word "acting".

Violence: 10/10 - 98 on the vomit meter. There are at least two dozen scenes of barbaric torture and sadistic cruelty graphically shown.

Nudity: 9/10 - What would you expect, the director is Italian.

Coolness: 2/10 - If you find this movie cool, then you're a sick fucker. My two points goes to the artwork of the film, the cover is exploitation at it's finest.
