our comment. "I got 3 words for you, Marvin fucking Gaye."
Rob Gordon is the owner of a semi-failing record store in Chicago, where he sells music the old fashioned way - on vinyl. He's a music junkie who spends his days at his store, Championship vinyl, with his two employees Dick and Barry creating their all-time favorite top-5 lists of songs. Although they have an encyclopedia knowledge of pop music and are consumed with the music scene, it's of no help to Rob when his long-time girlfriend Laura walks out on him.

This hilariously funny comedy examines Rob's failed attempts at romance and happiness, as he is dragged kicking and screaming into adulthood.

A funny, involving, smart meditation on the prattle of the sexes.

Story: 9/10 - You could make a decent film with just 3 pages of Hornby's excellent book.

Acting: 8/10 - Cusack and Hjejle are both good, but Black and Louiso are brilliant as the unhelpful clerks Dick and Barry. Great cameo by Tim Robbins, by the way.

Violence: 3/10 - Todd Louiso gets to punch Tim Robbins' teeth out with an air condition set, very powerful.

Nudity: 0/10 - I sure don't remember anything, corrections accepted.

Coolness: 5/10 - Slagging off a customer who wants to purchase "I just called to say I love you" is basic coolness rules, but it's not as cool as "Clerks".

Soundz: 10/10 - I got 3 words for you, Marvin fucking Gaye.
