A sadistic crime wave is sweeping across America. In old Detroit, the situation is so bad a private corporation, Security Concepts Inc. has assumed control of the police force. The executives at the company have manufactured a crime fighting robot, but Ed 209 malfunctions violently during a board-room meeting. This "unfortunate" accident paves way for an ambitious young executive and his research team. They create a law enforcement cyborg from the body of a slain officer.
Robocop is a hit, and the crime-rate is increasing, but there are forces on the street - and within Security Concepts itself - that will stop at nothing to see this super cyborg eliminated.
This is non stop action and adventure all the way, and along with his second American feature Total Recall this showed as an innovative director with guts (with guts I don't mean the ability to degrade women) and style. Whatever happened after that is anybodys guess.
Investigation finished: 2001-01-08
Story: 9/10 - Few movies have so successfully combined all-out action, science-fiction, and very pointed political satire.
Acting: 6/10 - Excactly what you can expect (and mayby a little more) from this bunch.
Violence: 9/10 - Filled with comic-book violence. The slaughtering of good cop Murphy is extremely gruesome and painfull to watch (they don't spare their ammo).
Nudity: 0/10 - Maybe that's what Paul Verhoeven is doing wrong these days.
Coolness: 7/10 - Almost as violent as Reservoir dogs, and almost as cool.
