The Road Warrior
(1982)
Director: George Miller
Starring: Mel Gibson, Bruce Spence, Vernon Wells, Emil Minty
our comment. "...surpasses the original in brilliance as well as sheer intensity."
A nuclear war has destroyed Australia, the land has become lawless and desolated. A lone warrior named Max helps a colony of oil-drilling survivors defend themselves against roving murderous outback gangs and escape to the coast. Driving a tanker full of gasolin Max must outrun the hordes of crazies in a climactic chase scene that's among the most exciting ever filmed.

Made as a sequel to Mad Max, The Road Warrior is one of those rare movies that surpasses the original in brilliance as well as sheer intensity. See it over and over...

Story: 9/10 - Probably one of the most imitated plots in movie history, but this is the mother of post nuclear movies. Excellent!

Acting: 8/10 - Mel Gibson is an extremely talented Australian actor, I wonder what happened to him. He is so fucking cool in this film, but after that he just disappeared. Such a shame!

Violence: 8/10 - At times very grotesque, but the violence is done in a slightly funny manner. Lotsa gory fun.

Nudity: 2/10 - We can’t have naked women slowing down a perfectly good action flick, now can we!

Coolness: 10/10 - Incredible photography, terrific stunts, and fulltilt pace make this futuristic sci-fi western one of the most influential movies of the early '80s.
