Coffy
(1973)
Director: Jack Hill
Starring: Pam Grier, Booker Bradshaw, Allan Arbus, Sid Haig
our comment. "Jack Hill has got a penchant for female blouses falling open..."
Pam Grier is Coffy, nurse by day and avenging angel by night. When she discovers that her little sister is doped up on heroin, she puts an end to the greedy drug pusher's miserable life, but also vows to follow his trail of corruption up to the top - the very top.

And when the Las Vegas mob tries to take over the black drug market, she infiltrates the syndicate by posing as a Jamaican hooker (with the worst jamaican accent ever) and loosening her lingerie every 15 seconds. The real hassle starts when Coffy discovers that all is not what it seems..and that the leafy green behind the pusher's scene just may come from someone she knows!

Pam Grier is a very sexy and tough heroine, without a doubt her finest role.

Not only is this movie one of the most violent and sleazy blaxploitation flicks available, it's also one of the coolest.

Story: 7/10 - This is not a very complicated story, but I'm not a very complicated man. Wild stuff!

Acting: 7/10 - Grier gets to shed a tear and deliver lines like "this is the end of your rotten life, you motherfuckin' dope pusher", before she blows some unfortunate fella's head clean off.

Violence: 8/10 - This one doesn't hold back, kick-ass violence in just the right proportions.

Nudity: 9/10 - Jack Hill has got a penchant for female blouses falling open, in one scene Pam Grier takes on 5 different women and all the ladies get their top torn off (very sleazy, Jack).

Coolness: 9/10 - In a cat-fight Coffy puts razors in her huge afro, and when her opponet tries to pull her hair, it's time to bleed.

Skid-marks: 5/10 - No car-chases, the cars in this movie are pure killing machines.

Soundz: 6/10 - Not the best blaxploitation soundtrack nor Roy Ayers finest moment, but still quite groovy!
