Halloween
(1978)
Director: John Carpenter
Starring: Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasence, Nancy Loomis, P. J. Soles
our comment. "...let's face it; you'll cheer the bad guy."
A deranged young man named Michael Myers returns to his hometown with murderous intent after fifteen years in an asylum. When he was six years old he murdered his sister on Halloween, and nobody really knew why! Is he just a murder obsessed maniac, or possibly a vessel for absolute evil? (It's probably the latter since neither bullets nor knives will stop him, but then again what the hell do I know?).

This time it seems that Michael Myers have picked out poor Jamie Lee Curtis as his adversary, and what better way to impress a girl than to slaughter her friends. It all leads to a final showdown where Mr. Myers is shot 5 times by his psychiatrist, but he gets up and walks away... could there be a sequel on the way?

Filled with "watch out!" sequences and a lot of actually scary moments, clean wholesome fun.

Story: 8/10 - This influential slasher film doesn't really make sense, but it's not supposed to. It's a thrill show and a quite good one I might add. Pure evil against virginal purity, a modern fairy tale.

Acting: 6/10 - Donald Pleasance is NOT a good actor, Jamie Lee Curtis is o.k., but let's face it; you'll cheer the bad guy.

Violence: 5/10 - Made just before the video-nasties period, and it shows.

Nudity: 4/10 - In order to die someone must have sex, and in order to have sex someone must take their clothes off... etc.

Coolness: 7/10 - It's one of the most successful independent motion picture of all time, spawned a zillion lousy sequels and had an incredible soundtrack to make it even more scary.
