Somewhere underground, in New York's subway system, just outside the Pelham Station, a gang of armed men hijack a train, threatening to kill one hostage per minute unless their demands are met. Forced to stall these unknows assailants until a ransom is delivered or a rescue is made, transit chief Lt. Garber must ad-lib, bully, con and shrewdly outmaneuver one of the craftiest and cruelest villains in a battle of wits and strength.
70's films kicks ass, don't let anybody tell you any different. This movie (together with Serpico and The Great Gatsby) was actually a publicity stunt by former New York Mayor John Lindsey to restore the city's dignity (?!).
Investigation finished: 2001-05-26
Story: 9/10 - Based on the novel by John Godey, has more balls than many of today's action flicks.
Acting: 8/10 - Robert shaw is really good as the lead hi-jacker, and Walter Matthau is surprisingly not all that bad.
Violence: 4/10 - It probably was back in those days, but now... NO!
Nudity: 0/10 - On a Subway train... don't think so!
Coolness: 9/10 - believe it or not but this film actually inspired Tarantino for his masterpiece "Reservoir dogs", see it and you'll understand why.
