Traffic
(2000)
Director: Steven Soderbergh
Starring: Michael Douglas, Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Dennis Quaid, Catherine Zeta-Jones
our comment. "...chances are good that Zeta-Jones will bug the hell out of you."
It's the high-stakes, high-risk world of the drug trade as seen through a well-blended mix of interrelated stories: a Mexican policeman finds himself and his partner caught in an often deadly web of corruption; a pair of DEA agents work undercover in a sordid and dangerous part of San Diego; a wealthy drug baron living in upscale, suburban America is arrested and learns how quickly his unknowing and pampered(and may I add blind) takes over his business; and the U.S. President's new drug czar must deal with his increasingly drug-addicted teenage daughter.

Traffic is a better than average dramatic experience, but it's not without flaws and if you're as picky as me the chances are good that Catherine Zeta-Jones will bug the hell out of you.

Story: 8/10 - Stephen Gaghan won an oscar for the screenplay, and I have no problem with that.

Acting: 10/10 - Benicio Del Toro is outstanding, this is his movie!

Violence: 4/10 - Gripping and powerful, but hey they all can't be Scarface.

Nudity: 0/10 - In a movie as long as this, I think we're entitled to at least a couple of nudie shots.

Coolness: 7/10 - It's very stylish and involving, Soderbergh certainly knows his craftmanship.
