The Way of the gun
(2000)
Director: Christopher Mcquarrie
Starring: Ryan Phillippe, Benicio del Toro, Juliette Lewis, Taye Diggs, James Caan
our comment. "...this is one of those sensitive macho films."
Two petty criminals kidnap a surrogate mother for the ransom they can get from the wealthy parents of the unborn baby, but they run into unforseen problems when the ransom is delivered by the attorney of a mob boss along with a hitman.

It’s a little bit too serious for it’s complicated and often humorous content, and I can’t help too think that I probably wouldn’t even have bothered to see it if Benicio del Toro wasn’t in it.

Story: 5/10 - The story has way too many flaws and doesn’t really hold together, like why the hell do they decide to kidnap the girl in the first place and what’s with the stupid intro (I’m such a critic) , but as a mind-numbing gun-fest it really delivers what it promises.

Acting: 8/10 - Phillippe and del Toro are good (especially del Toro), and James Caan was a sight for sore eyes (where the hell has he been, probably drinking and shooting guns), but Juliette Lewis really bothers me.

Violence: 6/10 - Bulletts fly left and right, Sam Peckinpah would totally approve.

Nudity: 0/10 - Nope, this is one of those sensitive macho films.

Coolness: 5/10 - The movie does show a lot of promise, but it never really gets to where it should be going and when it’s finished you don’t really pray for a sequel.
