Superman - The Movie
(1978)
Director: Richard Donner
Starring: Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder
our comment. "What a waste of X-ray vision!"
This is the classic story of Kal-El, who is sent by his father to avoid extinction when his home plantet of Krypton is destroyed. The young boy lands on earth only to find that he has supernatural powers, and blah blah blah he becomes Superman. In this first Superman feature he battles his arch foe Lex Luthor, who is dead set on world domination (aren't they all).

This is good clean fun all the way, get the new DVD version it has tons of extra stash.

Story: 8/10 - A very entertaining adventure story, written by none other than Mr. Godfather himself Mario Puzo. Talk about diversity.

Acting: 8/10 - Reeve is a bit annoying, but Hackman and Brando make up for that.

Violence: 0/10 - I would actually like to see a really violent film about superheroes, do you hear me Sam Raimi.

Nudity: 0/10 - What a waste of X-ray vision.

Coolness: 7/10 - has all the pure delights of a good comic!

F/X: 5/10 - The flying isn't all that convincing, but at least you can't see the cables all the time.
