The Gift
(2000)
Director: Sam Raimi
Starring: Cate Blanchett, Giovanni Ribisi, Keanu Reeves, Hilary Swank
our comment. "Even Keanu Reeves is good in this movie?!"
Widow and mother of three, Annie Wilson, makes her living by foretelling others' future...though her own has become cloudier than even she can see. Threatened by a client's violently jealous husband and plagued by visions of a missing towns-girl, Annie is unwittingly pulled into a thicket of lies and deception in which her extraordinary gift could be used against her and get her killed.

After "For the love of the game" Director Sam Raimi couldn't possibly do any worse, but I didn't expect it to be this good. The Gift is a gripping tale of supernatural intrigue and chilling terror.

Story: 8/10 - An eerie psychological thriller, although the end is not as shocking as it wants to be.

Acting: 9/10 - amazing performances from everyone, I mean even Keanu Reeves (hold on to your nitro-glycerine pills, folks) is good in this movie?!

Violence: 3/10 - There aren't many sane or sympathetic males in this film, but most of the violence is off-screen.

Nudity: 5/10 - Katie Holmes of Dawson's Creek fame gets to do a Lisa Bonet (sort of).

Coolness: 8/10 - Very dark and stylish, Sam Raimi is a truly gifted director and I'm really looking forward to his next feature, Spider-man.
